Domestic Violence

Women are victims of sexual and physical assault by men. More than 2.5 million females go through a violent act each year. Most cases of domestic violence are against women of ages 15-44. There are more animal shelters than shelters for women who have been battered. Women that have been battered suffer from miscarriages and give birth to babies that weigh less than an average baby.  Statistics have shown that 28% of husbands and boyfriends are the ones that beat there wife or girlfriend and that 35% of the abusers were acquaintances and 5% were relatives. Only 35% of the female victims report that the abuser was a stranger. Not only are women affected by domestic violence but children too. Some male abusers not only abuse their wife but also their children. Some children end up being future abusers or victims.
